Altered Book Club

Wednesday, May 206:00—8:00 PMProgram Room (upstairs)Heermance Memorial Library1 Ely Street, Coxsackie, NY, 12051

Six session series: May 20, June 3 & 17, July 1, 15, & 29 (register once for the entire series)

 Artist/Instructor: Natalie Boburka.

Take an old book, and turn it into something new and personal! In session one learn about altered books, see examples and get an overview of techniques for future sessions. Then we begin with finding a theme and a book, and making a list of possible materials. We’ll find out what makes a book a good candidate to turn into an art object. Each subsequent week will be an introduction to a new technique to try. We’ll incorporate writing and poetry in our techniques. We will keep our materials from prior weeks handy so we can revisit and add at our own discretion once we’ve learned the techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their books home with them and experiment further between classes.

Altered Book Club gives participants a chance to use many techniques and build on previous skills to create a multi-page engaging piece of art.
