Teaching Opportunities
Seeking Teaching Artists – Become a part of the BOCES after school program CROP (Creating Rural Opportunities Program) and teach students in K-8th grade for The Roxbury Arts Group Sessions are one hour long and can be stand alone sessions or short residencies. Teaching artists will design, source materials and teach lessons with groups of students. This is a paid opportunity of $75 per one hour session plus travel and materials reimbursement. The Creative Opportunity Fund provides general operating support grants of $2,000-$5,000 to small professional theatres with budgets under $500,000 working throughout New York State. Music Grant… The Society for New Music and the New York Federation of Music Clubs‘ annual Brian M. Education Internship – Hudson Valley MOCA is seeking highly organized and motivated part-time interns to support the Education department. Interns will assist with the educational outreach and programs at Hudson Valley MOCA (including teaching artists-in-residence, in-house educational programs, tours, creative workshops and more), day to day operations, and general administrative duties related to education. Education interns can expect a wide variety of responsibilities on a day to day basis, with the opportunity to gain experience in a museum environment by observing and assisting staff while obtaining insight into the administrative and curatorial side of a non-profit contemporary art institution. Art Institute Intern – The Art Effect offers internships for school credit. The Art Institute Intern should have an art-focused background as well as a strong interest in arts administration and art education. This intern will work on a variety of tasks including welcoming students and families, maintaining studio and materials, documenting programs via photography and video, and assisting our Teaching Artists as needed. Ideal candidates will have a strong fundamental understanding of the principals of fine art/design and critique. Strong communication skills and the ability to work with and engage middle and high school age youth are a must. Availability required is 5-10 hours per week in shifts of two hours or more, including possible nights and weekend in alignment with Art Institute class schedule. Art Omi: Architecture, Art Omi: Artists, & Art Omi: Writers 2025 – Applications Open August 15 – Art Omi has five distinct residency programs. Through a competitive jury process, residents are chosen, invited to attend at no cost to themselves, except travel. Abundant, catered meals and comfortable, beautiful lodgings are provided in a scenic location in Columbia County, New York. The Art Omi: Architecture Residency program is the first of its kind in the nation. Art Omi: Architecture invites 10 early- to mid-career architects from around the world to develop their work during a full two-week residency on Omi’s campus. Art Omi: Architecture aims to nurture experimentation at the intersection of architecture, art, and landscape. Art Omi: Artists invites artists from around the world, representing a wide diversity of artistic styles and practices, to gather in rural New York each summer to experiment, collaborate and share ideas. Concentrated time for creative work is balanced with the stimulation of cultural exchange and critical appraisal. Art Omi: Writers hosts authors and translators from around the world for residencies throughout the spring and fall. The program’s strong international emphasis provides exposure for global literary voices and reflects the spirit of cultural exchange that is essential to Art Omi’s mission. In early November, Art Omi: Writers hosts an annual Translation Lab, in which four English language translators are invited to work alongside the writers whose work they translate. Artist Residencies in The Catskills – Catskill Mountain Foundation hosts residencies of performing artist groups ranging from one to six weeks for dance, theatre, and music artists. Funding is provided through grants and private donations. There is no application process; residencies and performances are by invitation from the CMF Director of Performing Arts and the Board of Directors.
