Plein Air Artmaking + Exhibition Opportunity at Beattie-Powers Place

CREATE Council on the Arts and Beattie-Powers Place invite artists and makers to join us for two days of plein air art-making this Summer, culminating in an exhibition of completed wall-mounted works at Beattie-Powers’s Nina Matis & Alan Gosule Gallery opening in the Fall 2026!

Saturday, July 25, 9am–2pm
Saturday, August 15, 9am–2pm

Spend one or both days creating alongside fellow artists on the historic grounds overlooking the Hudson River, the Rip Van Winkle Bridge, Olana State Historic Site, and the Beattie-Powers Place historic home. Participants are also welcome to return to the grounds outside of the designated dates to continue working at their own pace.

All mediums are welcome—including oil, watercolor, acrylic, ink, pencil, and more. Artists of all disciplines, mediums, experience levels, and ages are welcome to participate!

EXHIBITION SUBMISSIONS:

• Submission forms will be shared with attendees the week of August 17, 2026.
• Registered artists may submit up to three artworks created at Beattie Powers, either from CREATE’s plein air dates or from separate sessions. Works started, developed, or finished during CREATE’s plein air dates will be prioritized. At least one artwork per artist will be selected for the exhibition.

KEY EXHIBITION DATES:

• Artwork Drop-Off: Mon, Sept 14 or Tue, Sept 15
• Drop-off Address: CREATE Council on the Arts, 453 Main St, Catskill, NY (entrance on Brandow Alley)
• Opening Reception: Sat, Sept 19, 3–5pm
• Exhibition Dates: Sat, Sept 19–Dec (exact date TBD)

PLEASE NOTE:

• All art-making must take place outdoors.
• Participants are asked to bring their own supplies—materials will not be provided.
• Restrooms will be available, but may not be used as cleaning areas. Please plan accordingly for cleanup without running water.
• Participants are also welcome to return to the grounds outside of the designated dates to continue working at their own pace.
