Sylvia Mueller studied photography at the School of Visual Arts before earning a BA in English from Rutgers University. She worked in publication print production in New York City for several years before moving to the Hudson Valley.

A self-taught collage artist, Sylvia explores the convergence of incongruous imagery, examining how seemingly unrelated elements can coexist within a shared visual space. Her work has been exhibited at Pictorial Foundation (Newburgh), Wallkill River Center for the Arts (Montgomery), Lace Mill (Kingston), Sketchbook (Saugerties), CREATE Council on the Arts (Catskill), Limner (Hudson), Upstream Gallery (Hastings-on-Hudson), WAAM Woodstock, and SUNY Ulster (Stone Ridge). Her work was also featured in the most recent two issues of Cut Me Up magazine.
In 2023, Sylvia became a founding member of CIRCLE24collective and currently serves on the board of WAAM.
