Oboe Duo Agosto presents Take Two Oboes

Oboe Duo Agosto was created in 2009 by Ling-Fei Kang, oboe, and Charles Huang, oboe and English horn. They promote the oboe’s sound and versatility through their wide-ranging repertoire and advocacy of new music. Throughout their presentations they highlight the role of new music written for their instrument. They have been frequent guests at universities and colleges for masterclasses and concerts.

Dr. Charles Huang is a founding member of Oboe Duo Agosto, advancing a wide variety of commissions for their unique concerts. Huang has been a Fulbright Scholar with studies in Stuttgart, Germany, and scholarship recipient at Music Academy of the West and Norfolk Chamber Music Festival. His recordings include music by Keith Kramer on Navona Records, and most recently, the works of Phil Salathé for Duo Agosto on Ravello Records. He is currently on the faculty of Williams, Smith College, Mount Holyoke College, the Hartt Community Division, and has been invited to teach and perform at the University of Michigan, CCM, SUNY Purchase, Chiayi University in Taiwan, IDRS, the Lucarelli Oboe Masterclass, and the Festival Eleazar de Carvalho. His principal teachers include Nancy King and Humbert Lucarelli.

A native of Taiwan, oboist Ling-Fei Kang has performed as chamber musician and soloist in North and South America and Asia, including recitals at the Brazilian Double Reed Association in João Pessoa, the conferences of the Asian Double Reed Association in Bangkok, and the International Double Reed Society in Redlands, Tokyo, and Granada. She served as professor of oboe at the Festival Eleazar de Carvalho in Fortaleza, Brazil and given masterclasses at Universidad do Estado de Minas Gerais, University of Southern Mississippi, University of Northern Colorado and Washington State University. She is a grant-recipient of Le Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and the Taiwanese National Culture and Arts Foundation. Ms. Kang graduated with the Prix avec grande distinction from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and also earned an Artist Diploma from The Hartt School, University of Hartford. Her principal teachers include Humbert Lucarelli and Bernard Jean.
