Jen Beagin Reading & Signing ‘Big Swiss’

The Chatham Bookstore and The Kinderhook Knitting Mill are excited to present a reading with local author Jen Beagin on Thursday, December 7 at 6pm. This event is free and open to the public. 

Beagin will read from Big Swiss, her latest novel, at Morningbird Cafe, 4 Hudson Street, Kinderhook. Set in Hudson, NY, where Beagin currently resides, Big Swiss was an immediate bestseller. It follows a transcriptionist who, while working for a sex therapist, falls in love with a married client by listening to her recorded therapy sessions. After finally meeting in real life, the two embark upon a fraught, enlightening, and consistently hilarious affair. 

Big Swiss was published in February to rave reviews, with the Los Angeles Times deeming Big Swiss“one of the funniest books of the last few years…both timely and ultimately transcendent.” According to The Guardian, “Every page is packed with good jokes, keen observations and idiosyncratically wonderful prose.” Now out in paperback, Big Swiss is continuing to resonate with readers—and will find an even wider audience as a soon-to-be HBO series starring Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer.

To celebrate Big Swiss’s continued success, Beagin will read from the novel, answer questions from the audience, and sign copies, which will be available for sale courtesy of the Chatham Bookstore.
