Why circus? The circus is a traditional artform which brings people together in the wonder and awe of human achievement. The laughter inspired by its clowns heals and allows us to see ourselves as fully human. As a “popular” art form, it is accessible, of the moment, and always reflecting what’s real in ourselves and society. These reasons are also why circus is a perfect medium for arts education and youth development. It’s non-competitive, expressive, and community-building. Bindlestiff’s Summer Cirkus is a lineup of free programs addressing and celebrating our diversity and the wonder of the circus. All programs are provided free of charge thanks to partnerships with the City of Hudson Youth Department, Operation Unite New York, Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood, Columbia County Youth Bureau, and generous individual donors.
