The Greene County Historical Society is pleased to announce a presentation and book signing by local author John Ham on Sunday, August 11 at 2pm in the reading room of the Vedder Research Library. Mr. Ham will begin with a small slide show and narration covering a selection of images from his new book “Narrow Gauge Trains of the Catskills” followed by a brief opportunity for questions and the chance to purchase copies of the book signed by Mr. Ham.

John Ham is a celebrated local historian who first discovered his passion for railroads as a young boy in Hunter seeing the last of the great steam locomotives that serviced the heart of the Mountain Top in Greene County. Many of you are well familiar with some of his other titles, including “One Hundred Years on Resort Ridge,” “From Gotham to the Berkshires: New York Central’s Harlem Division” and “Light Rails and Short Ties Through the Notch” among countless others. Filled with numerous previously unpublished images, his solo and co-authored books offer countless interesting photographs that bring to life the bygone golden age of the locomotive in New York State.

The program will begin at 2pm and be held in the reading room of the Greene County Historical Society’s Vedder Research Library located on the grounds of the Brock Museum. The Bronck Museum is located at 90 County Route 42, Coxsackie, NY.

The event is free to attend, and some of Mr. Ham’s previous titles will be available in addition to his latest offering!
