A Place to Rest: Pam Poquette and Kirby Crone

June 12–July 26, 2026
Opening Reception: Sat, June 13, 4–6 PM
CREATE Offiste: Foreland GVA HAll
111 Water St, Catskill, NY

A Place to Rest is an installation and feast for the eyes; with works by Pam Poquette and Kirby Crone.

A Place to Rest is an exhibition that explores the themes of spaces in nature, our interior and bodily human landscape, and cozy comforts. Immersive vignettes of Poquette’s soft stuffed paintings and Crone’s abstract soothing paintings are connected by soft ambient guitar synth sounds of glimmers in the hallway,
offering a space for one’s nervous system to reset as they enter and exit the building. Particularly in this time, it is easy to disassociate and feel out of one’s body, so we invite people to linger among the share space in a soft, colorful, soothing environment.

Installed in a hallway, the exhibition aims to be an inviting space to pause, breathe, and reset with oneself among the sensory soothing visual and audio elements. A safe place for all to immerse in color and texture. The colors and whimsy of the pieces will assist in tapping into our inner child… through touch and exploring the ways and multiple angles in which we view and personally interact with the object, and ultimately ourselves and our infinite depths of wonder.

This exhibition is a part of CREATE Offsite. Please direct all inquiries to gallery@createcouncil.org.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Pam Poquette (she/her) is an artist, educator, and arts administrator based in the Hudson Valley, NY, whose work explores themes of glimmers by evoking nostalgia through color and pattern.

Pam’s work has been supported by NYSCA’s Statewide Community Regrant Program for her project Little Comforts, as well as by the Create Council on the Arts and Columbia County, NY, Catalyst Grant for her project Consolations. She has also received a Teagle Foundation grant in recognition of her work as an educator. Pam has attended several residencies, including Vermont Studio Center, Walkaway House, Collar Works, and ChaNorth. Alongside her studio practice, Pam is the founder of Home Studio Chats, a project dedicated to supporting and promoting the work of artists who primarily create in home studios.

She received her MFA from the University at Albany and her BFA from The College of Saint Rose. She is assisted by her greatly adored felines, Egon & Toulouse, in their home studio.

ABOUT THE SPACE

Foreland’s gallery at the entrance of 111 Water Street is situated between Cone Zero’s ceramics studio and the former Willa’s Cafe. It is a public-facing space that serves as a corridor between Water St. and Foreland’s businesses, artist studios, and co-working spaces, so the gallery experiences significant foot traffic, particularly during Upstate Art Weekend!
