Outside the Lines

40th Annual Youth Exhibition

Artwork by pre-K through Grade 12 students from Greene, Columbia and Schoharie County public and homeschools.

June 2 – July 2, 2023

This collection is the culmination of a year of study in which area youth learn and develop life skills such as concentration, problem solving, understanding and working with materials, translating ideas into art, and aesthetic appreciation. “Outside the Lines” gives students the unique opportunity to exhibit their artwork in a professional gallery and allows visitors to see a wide cross-section of the diversity and promise of our region’s young, creative talent.

In celebration, the exhibit opens with a special preview of the show at Gallery@CREATE to coincide with Catskill’s First Fridays on June 2nd from 4-8pm. There will be party favors of art goodie bags for kids and “Face Painting by Crystal” from 5:30-7:30pm. An opening reception will also be held on Saturday, June 3rd from 2-4pm.

This exhibit fills the gallery with bursts of kaleidoscopic colors and designs found in students’ paintings, drawings, collages, photographs, sculptures, and mixed media works.

It is the art teachers and administrators who are to be commended for fostering an appreciation of arts among their students and taking the time out of their busy academic schedules to help them prepare and cultivate their talents. And, of course, the students and their families whose generosity and creative energy make this an extraordinary annual student art exhibit.

Gallery@CREATE is located at 398 Main Street in Catskill and is open Fridays, 4pm-7pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays, 11am-6pm.

CREATE is supported in part with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature, and the Greene County Legislature.
