Sean Cronin’s Gory Dove / Noah B Harley / Jenna Nicholls

Friday, Apr. 26, 7:30-10pm

The Avalon Lounge
29 Church St.
Catskill, NY

Hiding somewhere between swampy jug music and Kurt Cobain sits Gory Dove, drawing from influences as diverse as Leonard Cohen, Kurt Weill, The Pixies, Charles Mingus, and Neil Young. Never satisfied to just play music, Sean Cronin incorporates theatrical elements into his performances, generating disparate emotional qualities from the character of each song. He appears at times sneering and unlikeable, at times innocently earnest, but is always leading the listener into a living, reflective, and rhythmic realm of song.

Noah B Harley fashions old skins from new grapes and grafts the weird branch of U.S. American vernacular onto our post-nuclear bough.

Whether she’s belting out a New Orleans style vamp on her Ukulele, singing an original cowboy tune,  or lush ballad on the piano, the music of multi-instrumentalist Jenna Nicholls is giving a vintage genre a new spin with her own lush nostalgic style and melodic sensibility.  Recently, Jenna has toured nationally with Ingrid Michaelson, shared stages with Oscar Winner Glen Hansard, Amanda Palmer, Lucius, and Joan as Policewoman.  She’s performed in venues all over the world including the Beacon Theater NYC, and Carnegie Hall.
