Irja Bodén is a ceramic artist whose sculptures rise as stacked, scarred forms, built from vessels that are cut and reassembled. Working from the language of containment and rupture, she reshapes familiar silhouettes into architectonic structures that hold memory, fracture, and repair. Embossed surfaces and layered glazes gather light and shadow, suggesting sediment, landscape, and the passage of time. Her prints on paper reference the internal and external landscape of the ceramic works.

Lucy Bohnsack received her BFA in Photography from the Lesley University College of Art and Design in 2004 where she first began experimenting with what would become her signature tactile approach to photography. Working along two parallel photographic styles concurrently, that of personal documentation and studio portraiture, Lucy utilizes this ever expanding database to investigate what it means to process images. Never satisfied with the image remaining “just” an image, she obsessively explores the concept of printing through digital printing on experimental substrates (from cement, to plastic grocery bags), as well as more well known printing processes such as silkscreen and photorealistic embroidery. Her work has won awards, been published, shown in galleries, and her large pandemic work, Masks for Main Street, is now part of the permanent archives at The New York State Museum. Lucy lives and works in Catskill, NY with her husband and two children.

Bruce Byers – NYC Street Photographer of the Unseen Moment

Photographer Bruce Byers has spent more than 40 years quietly capturing life’s most fleeting, heartfelt moments. As the world rushes by, his lens pauses — noticing what most overlook: a child’s wonder, an old man’s quiet thoughts, the joyful reunion of long-lost friends, or a fleeting juxtaposition that disappears in seconds.

Each image Byers creates is unstaged and unfiltered, yet deeply moving. His candid street photography invites the viewer into moments of introspection, joy, isolation, serenity, and raw emotion — private reflections that are typically unobserved by the world.   “I am fascinated by the emotional power of an individual’s private reveries,” Byers says. “These are the moments we miss when we aren’t looking.”

Spontaneous Humanity — Etched in Time

From a firefighter watching his rig return to the station house, to a man asleep on a crowded subway, or two women walking arm-in-arm while talking on separate cell phones — Byers captures scenes that are deeply human, profoundly relatable, and quietly powerful. Whether it’s a pigtailed child gazing out a sports car window or a homeless man standing beside sharply dressed Navy officers, every image in his archive tells a story — one rooted in contrast, connection, and the shared experience of simply being alive.

A Life in Observation

Over four decades, Bruce Byers has built a collection of images that speak to the universal threads of human emotion — no matter the city, culture, or context. From New York City’s streets to neighborhoods across the world, his work highlights the beauty and poignancy in ordinary moments that are, in fact, anything but ordinary.

His photographs are not only visually arresting — they linger in the mind, haunting in their honesty, unforgettable in their emotional clarity.

Laura Cannamela’s artwork has been exhibited in galleries, museums, and non-profit spaces across the country and internationally.  In 2024 her collage work was displayed within the US Department of State “Arts in Embassies” program in Timor-Leste and presented within a published interview in  “Contemporary Collage Magazine Issue #4”. In 2023 her work was featured in a solo exhibit at The Hammond Museum in North Salem, NY.  Her collage “Arashiyama” was published in “Cut Me Up Magazine Issue 11: Souvenir” and included in the companion exhibition at the Albany International Airport.  In 2017 her ceramic installation, Currents, was selected for the Hudson Valley Artists Purchase Award and entered into the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art’s permanent art collection.

Cannamela has received numerous awards, most recently a Gold Award from Contemporary Collage Magazine.  She has also received recognition for her artwork through grants from the Martha Boschen Porter Fund – a fund of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, the Platte Clove Artist-in-Residence Program, the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA)SOS Grant Program, the NYFA Mark Program, and the Freeman Foundation, along with the Five College Center for East Asian Studies, to travel to Japan.

Born in New Jersey, Cannamela received her MFA from Queens College of CUNY.  Her teaching experience includes undergraduate courses in design and color theory, along with ceramics and sculpture classes on the secondary school level.  Currently she resides in the Hudson River Valley of New York and in the Mississippi River Valley of Eastern Ontario, Canada.

Nancy Campbell grew up in Saugerties, New York. Her subject matter is primarily the landscape. She paints places she is most familiar with, whether the streets of the Village of Saugerties and the surrounding Catskills countryside, or certain villages in the mountains southeast of Rome, Italy. where her maternal grandparents were born.

Nancy served on the the Board of Directors at the Woodstock School of Art for 10 years. She was the Executive Director of the school from 2010-2015. She currently teaches workshops in gouache painting there. She is represented by Kiesendahl+Calhoun Fine Art LTD and exhibits regularly at their Gallery at The Lodge at Woodloch in the Pocono mountains of NE Pennslyvania.

Alan E Butzbach has had an exciting life, as he would say, “Many different lives”. For the most part, all his artistic endeavors have been self-taught. Although through the years different people, cultures, and adventures have been his education in the arts. His journey into the arts started with music at an early age. Picking up the drums and bass guitar, several bands were formed with some like-minded friends, and the next 20 years were spent playing in clubs and recording music with highlights of recording a 45 record at Radio City Music Hall studios and playing in New York City & Long Island clubs like the Mudd Club, Interferon, Peppermint Lounge among many others and taking on a stage name of Aldo Buzzi. Being in the music and art scene in New York City, with the partnership of a close friend, he started a production company, Centour Sound, that worked with bands, musicians, and artists in the New York metro area. Working at the Mudd Club, and many other clubs and venues – he worked with bands and artists such as the Ramones, Sam & Dave, Question Mark and the Mysterians, Blondie, Robert Gordan, Burning Spear, even at the Mudd Club Frank Zappa, way too many musicians and artists to mention. At the Mudd club, you could have caught him hanging out at the art gallery on the 3rd/4th floor with Keith Haring among many other artists of the late 70s early to late ’80s.

Then came another life in the food industry marrying the youngest daughter of the Balducci family, owners and operators of the world-famous culinary gourmet store mecca’ “Balducci’s” at 424 6th Ave. in Greenwich Village.  Being exposed to the world of specialty foods and food culture, he traveled to France, England, Spain, Germany, Italy, China, the Philippines, and Morocco in search of products not yet to be discovered in the USA. He was the first to bring into the United States Jamon Serrano from Spain and San Danielle Prosciutto from the region of Friuli, Italy.

As life continued music was still the mainstay, although he started to dabble in painting. Again, no formal lessons but a few tutorials and a master class by Devon Rodriguez. Upon his full retirement from the food industry, he went full bore into the art of painting using many different mediums – Oils, acrylics, oil & acrylic pens, colored pencils, and graphite – on canvas, slate, and wood. His art mostly consisted of landscapes and buildings from around the Schoharie County area where he and his current wife have had a home for over 20 years. However, he does do abstracts and other types of paintings that reflect his life, style and travels.

So many other details and stories cannot be put into a short biography, but we think you will have a glimpse into Alan’s life.

“My visual art has been exhibited across the United States in venues including the Samuel Dorsky Museum, the Spiva Center for the Arts and the
Schweinfurth Art Center. Currently I am directing a feature documentary film, “The Improvements”, that illuminates how Urban Renewal and real estate reshaped a community.

In the 2010s, I began exhibiting assemblage work while I was also teaching art to incarcerated teenagers. I showed 3D work in libraries and 2D work in uptown NYC art spaces.

In the 2020s, I taught filmmaking to children of immigrants and migrants, and visual art to girls in secluded religious sects. I also founded a non-profit organization.

As a project-based artist, I pursue a visual style that merges brutality and lyricism, harsh realities and swelling dreams. I grew up as a newcomer in the Deep South. I came from a wider family fractured between three religions and a nuclear family moving forward in tandem with tragedy. The layers of the Southern land and people, and the layers of familial stories, half-truths and lies, pushed me to the documentation that is photography and the fantasy that is painting. Just as I exist across a trio of cultures, my work exists across a trio of media.”

Sarah was born, raised, and educated in Los Angeles, CA. She received an MFA in painting from Otis Parsons in 1988.

She continued her exploration and education when she moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in 1988, where she showed in the galleries and events that forged the next wave for a community dedicated to reaching out through the arts, nationally and globally. Showing in group and small or solo shows places like Sideshow Gallery, Holland Tunnel Gallery, Pierogi Gallery, WAH Center, Test Site Gallery, State of art Gallery, The Brooklyn Museum. Jack Tilton Gallery, Ronald Feldman Gallery, in NYC. Sarah moved to New York’s Hudson River Valley region in 2005, bringing forth a renewed connection with nature and the intrinsic qualities that connect us.

Kim Bach is an artist and painter who resides in Hudson, New York. She is the niece of famed Utah artist Lee Deffebach.

A recipient of a residency at Yaddo in Saratoga Springs, NY. Kim studied at the California College of Arts & Crafts and received an MA from Long Island University, Brooklyn. Her early works were shown in Washington DC at Henri Gallery and at Christensen Heller Gallery in Oakland CA. For several years, Kim’s work was represented by Wendy McDaris gallery in Hudson, NY After running Verdigris Tea & Chocolate on Warren St. for 20 years, Kim has retired this year to work full time in her studio in Hudson, NY. Her other passions include gardening, reading and walking several pilgrimages throughout Spain and Portugal.

Fern Apfel is a Hudson Valley artist who specializes in making paintings with hand written text. Apfel’s work explores memory, language, and the passage of time through meticulously rendered compositions that reference letters, stamps, and printed ephemera.

Her work has been exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States, including presentations at Morgan Lehman Gallery, Troutbeck Gallery, the Woodstock Art Association & Museum, and the Arts Center of the Capital Region. Apfel’s paintings are held in numerous public collections, including The Hyde Collection, The Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery, The Albany Institute of History & Art, SUNY Albany Museum, and The Art Students League of New York. Capital Group Corporate Collection, London, UK, Yangdeng Art Museum, Guizhou Province, China.

In September 2026, Apfel will be having a solo show at the Morgan Lehman Gallery in NY.
