Laura Cannamela

Laura Cannamela’s artwork has been exhibited in galleries, museums, and non-profit spaces across the country and internationally.  In 2024 her collage work was displayed within the US Department of State “Arts in Embassies” program in Timor-Leste and presented within a published interview in  “Contemporary Collage Magazine Issue #4”. In 2023 her work was featured in a solo exhibit at The Hammond Museum in North Salem, NY.  Her collage “Arashiyama” was published in “Cut Me Up Magazine Issue 11: Souvenir” and included in the companion exhibition at the Albany International Airport.  In 2017 her ceramic installation, Currents, was selected for the Hudson Valley Artists Purchase Award and entered into the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art’s permanent art collection.

Cannamela has received numerous awards, most recently a Gold Award from Contemporary Collage Magazine.  She has also received recognition for her artwork through grants from the Martha Boschen Porter Fund – a fund of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, the Platte Clove Artist-in-Residence Program, the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA)SOS Grant Program, the NYFA Mark Program, and the Freeman Foundation, along with the Five College Center for East Asian Studies, to travel to Japan.

Born in New Jersey, Cannamela received her MFA from Queens College of CUNY.  Her teaching experience includes undergraduate courses in design and color theory, along with ceramics and sculpture classes on the secondary school level.  Currently she resides in the Hudson River Valley of New York and in the Mississippi River Valley of Eastern Ontario, Canada.
