Open Call: Two-Person Exhibition at Foreland GVA Hall
DESCRIPTION
CREATE Council on the Arts invites artists and/or curators to submit a proposal for a two-person exhibition of works by artists based in Columbia, Greene, or Schoharie counties. The exhibition will take place in June 2026 at Foreland’s gallery at the entrance of 111 Water Street.
This open call aims to foster dialogue between two artists on the interplay of their practices, aesthetics, concepts, or personal histories, as well as the existing, hidden, and/or emerging connections between them.
Submissions may include a maximum of twelve works total. Artworks may be of any media that can hang on a wall. The number of works included may need to be paired down depending on scale and the available space.
This exhibition is a part of CREATE OFFSITE. Submissions and reviews are managed by CREATE. Please direct all inquiries to gallery@createcouncil.org. Submit your proposal by May 25, 2026 here: Call for Art / Exhibition Proposals.

ABOUT THE SPACE
Foreland’s gallery at the entrance of 111 Water Street is situated between Cone Zero’s ceramics studio and the former Willa’s Cafe. It is a public-facing space that serves as a corridor between Water St. and Foreland’s businesses, artist studios, and co-working spaces, so the gallery experiences significant foot traffic, particularly during Upstate Art Weekend!
ABOUT CREATE PARTNERSHIPS
CREATE partners with galleries and community spaces to co-produce exhibitions that support and engage local artists and audiences. Our partnerships are structured around shared responsibility, visibility, and revenue.
If invited to participate, we encourage attendance of the gallery during Upstate Art Weekend (Thur, June 25–Mon, June 29), and require participants be on-site on Saturday, June 27, for Foreland Open Studios.
CREATE commissions 50% of the retail price of works sold (minimum 30% if the artist chooses). Payments are made 30 days after the exhibit closes. Artwork is insured while on display and five days before and after. In case of damage or loss, the artist receives the net value, with proof of value provided by the artist. Claims must be submitted in writing within 30 days of exhibit closing. If invited to participate, all participants will be asked to sign an agreement confirming these terms and conditions.
